I was watching obama’s speech last night, and when the camera went to a wider shot you could see two pieces of extremely thick glass. There was not a piece of glass in front of him only on the sides. Did any one else see that? What were they for?
I think they were bullet proof/resistant shields.

They were the teleprompters.
The audience can see through them, but the words of his speach appear on them from his point of view.
Its really cool technology.
